Introduction to the SciVal research intelligence tool - for Research Postgraduates

This session forms part of the Reading Researcher Development Programme (RRDP) for Research Postgraduates.

SciVal is a powerful research intelligence tool based on bibliometric data from research publications. SciVal enables researchers and those supporting research staff to visualize their institution/group’s research performance and benchmark it relative to their peers based on a variety of different metrics. It can also help you identify possible future post-doc opportunities or collaborators. This session will introduce you to the scope and possibilities of SciVal. The first half of the session will explain what the tool is and how it can be used. The second half will be a hands-on opportunity so that you get practical experience of using the tool. Please make sure that you have signed up for a free account at SciVal.com using your university credentials before the session. This will enable participants to do some interactive analyses as part of the training and for you to be able to get practical experience of using the tool.

Book your place through Reading's Student Information System (RISIS). The timetable can be viewed on the RRDP webpage in the 'Things to do now' section. You can also view a full timetable in the Doctoral and Researcher College site on Blackboard.
